Volunteer Role Description - Safety Team Volunteer

TITLE: Safety Team Volunteer

LOCATION: Community Safety Department/Station
RESPONSIBLE TO: Advocate/Community Safety Manager

PURPOSE:

Cheshire Fire Service Safety Team supports Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service in its work to ensure Cheshire is a safe place in which to live, work and travel. Home Safety Assessments (HSAs) play a pivotal role in protecting people from the risk of fire in their homes. The aim of this role is to enhance and complement the role of firefighters in meeting the needs of our local communities and help build closer links with them.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide a friendly and accessible focal point of contact between the local community and Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service.

Visit households in the community giving safety advice, undertaking Home Safety Assessments and fitting smoke alarms.

Support community events and initiatives to promote safety awareness.

Provide administrative and IT skills to support the Community Safety Department office.

HOURS:

A minimum of 4 hours per month is recommended for this role.
