A 'Name the Bear Competition' started on Saturday 3rd July at the volunteers summer celebration.
The correct name for the bear was Tennessee and the winner of the competition is Selina Greenow.
Tennessee the Bear was donated by Paul Bickerton and all of the funds raised have gone to the Ghana Project.
By most accounts, Tennessee first earned its nickname as the volunteer state during the year of 1812 due to the large numbers of Tennesseans who volunteered to serve in battle against Great Britain.
Later, General Andrew Jackson led 2000 Tennessee volunteer soldiers in a successful battle against the British in 1815 at the battle of New Orleans.
