High Potential Development Scheme
Are you enthusiastic, dedicated and keen to step into a vocation like no other? If yes, then read on - as a career with Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service might be for you!
We are currently looking for talented first or second year degree students who would like to apply for our High Potential Development Scheme - a programme to develop our managers and leaders of the future.
This is your opportunity to join and potentially shape one of the country’s leading fire and rescue services.
What sort of person are we looking for?
We are looking for a dynamic and committed individual who wants a career that will not only change their lives but will also help save the lives of others.
You will need to be physically fit to take on the practical side of the role but you will also need the emotional intelligence and leadership skills to enable you to progress into a future manager.
How does the scheme work?
The first step is to go through our selection process. This is likely to be challenging but don’t let that put you off - if you want it then go for it!
If you are successful we will show our commitment to you by assisting with the cost of your university fees. For first year students, we will pay 50% of fees in Year 2 and, for first and second year students, 100% of fees in Year 3 subject to ongoing satisfactory results and progress.
What you will need to do is come and complete a ten-week internship with us during your summer holidays. This will be at our Cheshire Headquarters where you will work a 37 hour week for a salary of £10.26 per hour.
On graduating from university with a minimum of 2.1(Hons) degree you will then be ready to start your career with us as a trainee firefighter. We will then coach and develop your skills to help you reach your full potential as both a firefighter and a future manager.
