Serious house fire in Warrington

Firefighters were at the scene of a serious house fire in Warrington with five fire engines attending the blaze at a semi-detached bungalow. Crews wearing breathing apparatus used two main jets and two hose reels to extinguish the fire, gaining access to the loft in the property next door where the fire had spread. Firefighters are currently damping down the scene.

Update at 9.30am 08/07/14

This incident has sadly involved one fatality, a 94-year-old man. The cause of the fire is still under investigation but at this stage there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances.
