Crews from Wilmslow Fire Station took part in the national campaign “Walk to School” week set up to promote children and parents alike to leave the car at home and walk.

| Runcorn Fire Station Going Green |

Visitors to Runcorn Fire Station had two reasons to celebrate in June as the station celebrated fifty years of being open at the Heath Road site plus staff, dignitaries and members of the community were on hand to witness the cutting of the tape on the new Runcorn Community Bio-Diversity Garden.

A golf day was held at Brookfield Golf Club in memory of Firefighter Tony Kane who sadly died last year. There was a splendid turnout of 26 golfers of all abilities including Tony’s ten year old son George. Competitors were split into groups of three and four and played a Texas Scramble team event.

| Road traffic collision cluster exercise |

Wilmslow crews joined forces with Macclesfield, Knutsford and Bollington for a road traffic collision cluster exercise in April at Mansfield’s in Macclesfield. The focus of the exercise was to improve communications, procedures and bring together wholetime and retained stations in an operational environment.

The Service’s WI group are renowned for their jam making which normally ends up in a proud Victoria sandwich so when a “Cake Factor” competition was mentioned the real challenge was on.
