Arson Prevention Scheme
Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service and the Youth Offending Teams (YOT) in Cheshire, Warrington and Halton drew up a joint protocol whereby the YOTs would refer young people, convicted of a fire related offence, to Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service.
The idea behind this programme was to offer a meaningful alternative to custodial sentencing in an attempt to address the crime, look at the consequences of their behaviour and change their attitude.
The programme is delivered by the Youth Support Officers with a member of the YOT present at each session.
There are 12 modules looking at various aspects of fire and the role of the Fire Service - including road traffic collisions and related car crime.
