Increased fire prevention work leads to a safer Cheshire
Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service has been a national leader in Home Safety Assessments and fire prevention work for over 10 years now. This has led to increased safety for the residents of Cheshire. Below shows the link between increased fire prevention work and a safer Cheshire:
In 2015/16 more than 38,000 home safety visits were conducted in Cheshire, compared to 10,000 in 2005/6.
In 2015/16 there were 395 accidental fires in homes in Cheshire, compared to 626 in 2005/6.
In 2015/16 there were 29 injuries recorded and two deaths as a result of accidental fires in homes in Cheshire, compared to 82 injuries and four deaths in 2005/6.
We are developing a purpose-built Safety Centre that will provide people of all ages with the skills to stay safe at home, on the road and in the community.
