Legislation - The Equality Act

Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service operates within a legal framework that outlines its powers and duties both as an employer and as a service provider.

The Equality Act was introduced in October 2010 and it brings together a number of earlier pieces of equality legislation. The purpose of the Equality Act 2010 is to provide protection against discrimination and promote equality of opportunity for individuals and groups with a protected characteristic.
