Annual General Meeting of the Fire Authority
This meeting will take place at 10.30 am in the Lecture Theatre at Fire Service Headquarters, Winsford

1 Procedural Matters
B Election of Chair
In accordance with Standing Order No 3.20, Members are invited to elect a Chair of the Authority, to serve until the Annual Meeting in 2013.
C Election of Deputy Chair
In accordance with Standing Order No 3.21, Members are invited to elect a Deputy Chair of the Authority, to serve until the Annual Meeting in 2013.
Note: As set out in Standing Order No 3.23 the Chair and Deputy Chair must be from different constituent authorities.
D Appointment of Lead Members
At the Fire Authority meeting held on 14 December 2011 Members approved the introduction of the designation and role of Lead Member to represent those constituent authorities that are not represented by an appointment to the role of Chair or Deputy Chair. These appointments are to be agreed by the Members from the relevant constituent authority.
(If they fail to agree then the Fire Authority shall appoint)
E Appointment of Group Spokespersons
In accordance with Standing Order No 3.24, where any party group is not represented by an appointment to the office of Chair or Deputy Chair, the representatives of a relevant political group are entitled to appoint a spokesperson to represent that political group for 2012/13.
F Chair's Announcements
To receive any announcements that the Chair wishes to make prior to the commencement of the formal business of the meeting.
G Declaration of Members' Interests
Members are reminded that under the Local Government Act 2000 and the Authority's Code of Conduct, Members have a duty to declare any interests they may have in relation to the items of business on this agenda.

K Membership of the Fire Authority, Committee, Sub Committees and other bodies members are asked to note the membership of the Fire Authority and agree the Membership of and appointments to the Committees, Sub-Committee and other bodies (including Members Champions)2012-13 (new window PDF 34kb)
The report at Annex 4 has been drafted upon the basis that the Fire Authority will continue to have a committee that is responsible for standards and that it will have six councillor members. It also refers to independent members. Before the relevant appointments can be made the Fire Authority must confirm:
1)That it will have a committee responsible for standards; and
2)That the committee will have six councillor members.
