Vacancy for an Independent Member
Cheshire Fire Authority has a vacancy for an Independent (non-elected) member. This individual will be appointed in an advisory (non-voting) capacity to a number of Committees to help us promote excellence in governance and to bring a fresh external perspective to its debates. This role gives members of the community the opportunity to be involved in the development of their local Fire and Rescue Service.
Cheshire Fire Authority is the body which manages the Fire and Rescue Service on behalf of the local communities in Cheshire, Halton and Warrington. There are 23 elected Members that sit on the Fire Authority.
Potential applicants need to be able to commit to attending approximately nine Committee meetings per year and will also be invited to attend planning days and events. All meetings are held during the daytime and a small allowance and travel expenses are payable. Training will also be provided.
Applications are invited from interested persons who can uphold personal integrity, absorb key information and demonstrate good team work abilities. Whilst training and support will be provided, the role is challenging and provides a real opportunity to contribute to the governance of the Authority.
Unfortunately the Service is unable to accept an application from you if you have been a Member or Officer of the Fire and Rescue Service in the past 5 years.
