Vacancies for Independent Persons

Becoming an Independent Person for Cheshire Fire Authority
Upholding High Standards

Are you interested in helping to ensure that all Councillors that sit on Cheshire Fire Authority uphold the highest ethical standards?

The Localism Act 2011 places a duty on the Authority to promote and maintain high standards of conduct for Councillors.  To do so the Authority is required to adopt a Code of Conduct and have a process for dealing with complaints about breaches of that Code.  The process normally involves the input of an Independent Person.

If you are interested in applying please consider the information in the Application Pack.  Please note that the law states that some people cannot be Independent Persons.  The Fire Authority has also adopted additional restrictions.  It is important that you check this information in the Application Pack.

If you are eligible and wish to be considered for this role please complete the Application Form.  The Authority intends to appoint two Independent Persons.

If you have any questions please contact Naomi Thomas, Governance and Corporate Planning Manager on 01606 868804, or email her at
