Code of Corporate Governance

Cheshire Fire Authority has developed and adapted a local code of Corporate Governance which brings together all the governance and accountability arrangements the Authority currently has in place and highlights areas where more work is required.

The code is based on best practice guidance set out in the:

Delivering Good Governance in Public Sector ‐ Refreshed Code ‐ 2016 (new window, PDF 186KB)

The local code is written around eight core principles.  The links below demonstrate how Cheshire Fire Authority complies with the principles:

Principle A (new window, PDF 206KB)

Principle B (new window, PDF 166KB)

Principle C (new window, PDF 138KB)

Principle D (new window, PDF 129KB)

Principle E (new window, PDF 165KB)

Principle F (new window, PDF 162KB)

Principle G (new window, PDF 132KB)

Principle H (new window, PDF 189KB)

The local code is reviewed and updated at least annually.  Any significant issues found to need improvement will be reported in the Authority’s Statement of Assurance, which is published alongside our Accounts annually.
