Control centre - mobilising systems
The mobilising system used by North West Fire Control is a purpose-designed computer system that holds information on the locations and availability of all fire appliances and Fire Officers.
There is also a digital map display which shows appliance movements.
Detailed information is also held regarding specialist equipment, procedures and contact numbers for contacts within the local authorities, utility companies etc. There is also a large database of addresses in the Cheshire area to enable quicker mobilising to incidents.
All the information on the system is replicated to guard against failure of one particular machine. Back-up communications and power supplies are also provided allowing Control to remain operational in the event of a mains power failure, radio fault or telephone system fault.
