Northwich Fire Station History

During the Second World War the fire service was nationalised with the formation of the National Fire Service (NFS).  After the war, Cheshire County Council took over the responsibility for fire service and the county was restructured into four districts with Northwich coming under "C" district.

The station in Chester Way was used until 1973 when the present station off London Road was officially opened. Ten houses were built close by to accommodate wholetime firefighters who are on duty at the station during the day and respond to calls at night.
