Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service offer a free 12-week Employability Skills Programme for people over 25 years of age.

This programme helps to improve confidence, motivation and skills within a team environment. It also gives people the chance to meet new friends, have fun and earn recognised qualifications

The 12 week Employability Skills Programme is a part-time course, run over two days per week, and is available to anyone over the age of 25 (with no upper age limit).


The course will provide lots of employability skills – CV writing, application forms, mock interviews, letter composing, emails and professional communications .  And includes two outward bound days (not overnight). And work placement opportunities.

The course will help to develop and improve the following skills:

  • Communication

  • Confidence

  • Working with others

  • Setting and achieving goals

  • Reliability

  • Resilience

  • Job search skills

  • Leadership


On completion of the course, people will graduate with qualifications including:

  • Emergency First Aid at Work (HSE Approved)

  • Basic Food Hygiene Certificate (certified by Highfields)

  • Awareness certificate in Health and Safety

Next course

The next Employability Skills Programme will start on Wednesday 24th January in Crewe, Cheshire.
