Fire Choir in New York

Cheshire Fire Choir back from singing in New York

Members of Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service Choir are back from singing at a world famous New York concert hall and fulfilling their dream to sing for their fallen colleagues in the terrible events of 9/11.

Friends old and new at Ground Zero

The choir has been on such a wonderful journey this week, we still can't quite believe we've sung in the world famous Carnegie Hall, rubbing shoulders with professional composers, conductors and choirs, and today we paid our own tribute at Ground Zero.

We sang our hearts out at Carnegie Hall

When Welsh composer Paul Mealor invited Cheshire Fire Choir over to New York to sing his world premiere piece of music, he must have had immense confidence in us.

A musically hectic couple of days ahead

We've been keeping warm in rehearsals, despite it being absolutely freezing outside!

Introducing the Carnegie Hall FireChoir!

The Cheshire FireChoir has been working tirelessly to put on a top performance at the world's top concert hall, Carnegie Hall, so who are they?

Wow! Are we really singing here?!

Today was our first rehearsal for Mozart, Mealor, Martin - Music of Joy and Sorrow at Carnegie Hall.

Meeting our FDNY firefighter colleagues

We arrived at Ladder 10, Engine 10 (the fire station nearest to Ground Zero) reflecting on our 911 Museum tour.

Where Words Fail, Music Speaks

It’s been a day of mixed emotions. We were invited to the 9/11 Museum and started the week as we mean to go on, by remembering why we are here. The tour helped us focus our thoughts for the rest of our stay.
