Helping local businesses to avoid a fire
While fire legislation places a legal requirement upon employers and responsible persons to ensure the fire safety of their premises, regardless of fire service intervention, we are holding this village impact day to remind people of these responsibilities.
Local communities rely on small village shops so, if a shop is closed temporarily or permanently because of a fire, this would have a detrimental effect on many lives.
The Fire Safety Order
The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 or "the Fire Safety Order" came into force on 1st October 2006 and fundamentally changed the way in which fire safety for businesses is carried out and enforced. It provides a risk-based approach to fire safety in non-domestic premises which allows more efficient and effective enforcement by the fire and rescue service.
