Two fire engines attended, one from Middlewich and one from Sandbach

Shortly before 1.30pm firefighters received a report a fire in a building containing animals at a farm in Joness Lane, Middlewich.

On arrival crews discovered that all of the animals had been rescued by farmworkers and that the fire involved a detached building measuring approximately five metres by 15 metres.

Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus each used a hose reel jet to fight the fire.

A farmer used farming machinery to move sleepers involved in the fire away from the back of the building to a yard, where they were subsequently extinguished.

Once the fire was out firefighters damped everything involved in the fire down to make the area safe.

Firefighters were in attendance for around an hour and 40 minutes.
