Car fire in Crewe

One fire engine attended from Crewe

At around 3.25pm firefighters were called to reports of a car fire on Middlewich Road in Leighton, Crewe.
On arrival the crew discovered a 4x4 vehicle well alight that was affecting a hedge at the side of the road.
The road was closed as firefighters worked at the scene.
They used breathing apparatus and two hose reel jets to extinguish the fire.
The crew then used a hose reel jet to cool the burnt vehicle and a thermal imaging camera to check for hotspots.
Firefighters informed the Environment Agency that around 3,000 litres of water and car products entered the drains as a result of the incident.
The crew were in attendance for around an hour-and-a-half.
Police also attended.
