Car fire in Ellesmere Port

Shortly before midnight firefighters were called to reports of a vehicle being on fire on Princes Road in Ellesmere Port, near the junction with Ashfield Road.

On arrival the crew found a car well alight.

Firefighters extinguished the fire with a hose reel jet.

Once the fire was out they damped the car down to make it safe.

They also cut away parts of the dashboard to expose hotspots.

Firefighters were in attendance for around two hours.

Upon leaving the scene they handed the incident over to the police, who also attended.

The fire is believed to have been started deliberately.
