Car fire on M6

Firefighters were called following reports of a car fire on junction 19 to junction 20 of M6 northbound.

On arrival the crews found one car well alight on the hard shoulder.

One firefighter wearing breathing apparatus used a hose reel jet and dry powder extinguisher to extinguish the flames.

The crews then used an environmental pack to prevent petrol from entering nearby drains.

A thermal imaging camera was then used to check the car for hot spots.

There are no reports of any injuries.

Lane one was closed while the crew dealt with the incident.
