Carbon monoxide in domestic property in Widnes

One fire engine attended from Widnes


Shortly after 10.30pm firefighters were informed of a carbon monoxide alarm having been activated at a domestic property in Batherton Close, Widnes.

The crew used a gas detector at the address.

It detected carbon monoxide inside the property.

Firefighters isolated the gas supply to the property and assessed an occupier. They had oxygen to administer to him.

The man was handed over to the care of paramedics before being taken to hospital.

Firefighters also used the gas detector inside a neighbouring address. There were no carbon monoxide readings there.

A gas company attended the address which did contain carbon monoxide to establish the source and make the property safe.

Firefighters were in attendance for more than an hour-and-a-half.
