Two fire engines from Congleton and one fire engine from Macclesfield

Two fire engines from Congleton were mobilised to a report of a building fire at Congleton Carpets, West Street, Congleton. On arrival at the incident, the fire crews found a fire in a two storey building,  approximately 15 metres by 5 metres, so they requested a further fire engine. One fire engine from Macclesfield was mobilised. Three fire crews, including six firefighters wearing breathing apparatus, used three hose reel jets to deal with the fire. A large fan was used to clear the smoke as the fire was being tackled, with covering jets in place.  A man was escorted to safety from an adjacent flat. Police attended, they set up a cordon around the incident and they also managed the traffic in the area.
