Fire in derelict nightclub in Crewe

Two fire engines from Crewe, one from Nantwich and one from Alsager

Firefighters attended a fire involving a derelict nightclub in Crewe with persons reported.

Smoke and flames were coming from the first floor of the building when the crews arrived and six firefighters wore breathing apparatus and performed a search of the building and used three hose reel jets to extinguish the blaze. Noone was found in the building.

A covering jet was also put in place and two large fans used to clear smoke from the property.

A fire investigator has been requested to attend and crews remain at the scene.

The road was closed in both directions by police while the incident was dealt with.
