Fire in empty social club in Ellesmere Port

Two fire engines from Ellesmere Port, two from Chester and the hydraulic platform and one from Frodsham.

Shortly after 9pm the Service was called to reports of a fire in a derelict building in Station Road, Little Sutton, Ellesmere Port.

On arrival crew found a fire involving a building approximately 20 metres by 20 metres and firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used one hose reel and one main jet to begin tackling the fire while two covering jets were also put in place.

The attendance was increased to five pumps and adjacent properties were evacuated while an outer cordon was set up.Firefighters tackled the fire from both above the building with the hydraulic platform and on ground level. 

Shortly after 10.30pm crews managed to get the fire under control and firefighters began damping down hotspots. However , firefighters remained at the scene damping down until just after midnight. 

It is believed that this fire may have been started deliberately. If anyone has any information that could help identify those responsible they are asked to call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
