Fire involving rubbish spread to derelict building in Chester

Shortly before 9pm firefighters were informed of a fire in The Beeches area of Upton in Chester.

On arrival the crew discovered that it was a small outside fire involving a quantity of rubbish that had spread to a door of a derelict building.

Firefighters used a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire.

They then used tools to cut away the charred areas of the door frame.

Firefighters also used a thermal imaging camera to look for hotspots and make sure that the building was safe.

They were in attendance for around an hour-and-a-half.

The fire is believed to have been started deliberately.
