Fire involving hay barn in Warrington

Firefighters dealt with a hay barn on fire in Warrington. The barn measuring 10m by 5m was well alight. A water supply was secured from a nearby stream and police were requested to close a road while crews dealt with the fire.

Two main jets, one hose reel and a light portable pump were used to extinguish the fire.

A mechanical digger was also used to dig out the debris and make sure the fire was fully extinguished. Two covering jets were put in place and firefighters left the scene just after 17:00 on 17 April.

The fire is believed to have been started deliberately and anyone with any information is asked to call police on 101 quoting incident number 625 of 16 April, or alternatively contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
