Four-vehicle collision in Handforth

A34 Handforth Dean bypass

Two fire engines attended, one from Wilmslow and one from Cheadle in Greater Manchester


Shortly after 10pm firefighters were called to reports of a collision on the A34 Handforth Dean bypass.

On arrival the crews discovered that the collision involved two cars and two motorcycles.

One of the motorbike riders was trapped under one of the cars.

The other motorbike rider was also injured.

Firefighters used specialist airbags and cutting equipment to free the trapped rider from underneath the car.

The casualties were handed over to the care of paramedics.

Firefighters were in attendance for nearly two-and-a-half hours.

The road was closed by the police.
