Details
Charlie after he was rescued by firefightersA horse, six year old Charlie, was laying on his side stuck in mud. He was stuck in a pond that had lost a lot of water following the drought, becoming a swamp. Firefighters, the animal rescue and rope rescue units all attended the scene where they liaised with a vet to formulate a rescue plan.

Cordons were established as the operational teams made good progress in releasing the young, healthy Charlie who had been sedated by the vet. Ropes and strops were used along with a mechanical digger to release the horse who was back on its hooves when the sedation had worn off.

Charlie is reported to be uninjured after its ordeal.
