Fire engines from Warrington, Runcorn, Widnes and Frodsham

Four fire engines were at the scene of a lorry on fire on the M56 between junctions 11 and 10 (east) at Daresbury.  Fire and rescue crews received a report of a trailer wheel on fire on a lorry on the hard shoulder.

The trailer, carrying shredded tyres, became involved in the fire, affecting the hard shoulder and slip road with smoke affecting all three lanes.

Firefighters, two wearing breathing apparatus, used two hose reel jets and foam to tackle the blaze.

A recovery vehicle was requested and crews turned over the debris to make sure the fire was completely out before working with the removal team to clear debris from the motorway and hard shoulder.  Firefighters left the scene at 13:42.
