Man stuck in mud on river embankment in Warrington

Four fire engines attended - one from Warrington, one from Stockton Heath, one from Penketh and one from Widnes - as did the water incident unit from Warrington and a hydraulic platform and a rope rescue unit from Lymm

At around 8pm firefighters were called to reports of a man being stuck in mud on a River Mersey embankment at Wilderspool Causeway, Warrington.
On arrival the crews assessed the casualty and his surroundings and formulated a plan of action.
A fire service boat was launched and acted as a safety boat for firefighters.
The man was placed on a longboard and carried up the bankside.
He was then handed over to the care of paramedics.
Firefighters were in attendance for around an hour-and-a-half.
