Barge on fire in Stoak village

Two fire engines attended - one from Powey Lane and one from Ellesmere Port

At around 4.50pm firefighters were called to reports of a large amount of smoke on Little Stanney Lane in the village of Stoak, near Chester.
On arrival crews discovered a barge in the Shropshire Union Canal well alight and that no-one was on-board.
Firefighters overcame access problems so that they could extinguish the fire. Firefighters then put out the fire with a main jet. They also used a thermal imaging camera to check for hotspots.
The fire caused extensive damage to the barge.
