Report of man stuck in mud in Elton

Four fire engines attended - two from Ellesmere Port, one from Chester and one from Powey Lane - as did water rescue units from Chester and Warrington and aerial ladder platforms from Chester and Lymm


Shortly before 6.15am firefighters were called to a report of a missing person being stuck in mud by the River Mersey near Elton.

They assisted the police and coastguard in looking for the man.

A rescue boat from Chester Fire Station and a coastguard helicopter searched for him.

Firefighters were in attendance for nearly three-and-a-half hours, until the police and coastguard confirmed that their assistance was no longer required.

Paramedics also attended.
