UPDATED - Road traffic collision in Weaverham

Emergency services are at the scene of a road traffic collision in Weaverham. The collision involves several vehicles and is at the junction of Sandy Lane and Warrington Road. The road is closed and drivers are asked to look at alternative routes.

UPDATE | 17:10

Five walking wounded are being cared for by ambulance and air ambulance staff. Firefighters have removed the roof of one vehicle in which a casualty is medically and physically trapped to enable an extrication.

Five vehicles are believed to be involved.

UPDATE | 17:24

The casualty has now been extricated from the vehicle and being cared for by the Service's medical director and NWAS personnel. Firefighters and police are making the vehicle safe.

The casualty removed from the car has been taken to hospital by air ambulance. Fire crews are now making up their equipment and will shortly be leaving the scene. The incident has been handed over to police.
