Police closed the westbound carriageway of the M56 near junction 9 (Appleton) following a serious road traffic collision. 

Firefighters treated two casualties injured in the collision and fended off traffic until all lanes were closed.

Firefighters helped paramedics at this incident, which involved a heavy goods vehicle and a car, before handing it to Cheshire Police.
