Person rescued from house fire in Macclesfield

Firefighters were called after passers by reported smoke coming from a ground floor flat. On arrival they quickly entered the property wearing breathing apparatus and led one person to safety. Two hose reel water jets were used to extinguish the fire, which involved a quantity of newspapers, and large fans were used to clear smoke. The casualty was treated for the effects of smoke inhalation and transferred to the care of ambulance crews. The cause of the fire was accidental.
