Road traffic collision on M56

Junction 14 to 12, M56

Fire engines from Chester, Ellesmere Port and Runcorn attended

Firefighters attended a call to a road traffic collison between junctions 14 and 12 on the M56. The incident involved five saloon cars on the third lane with one person medically trapped and one person physically trapped. Highways Agency closed lanes two and three and ambulance staff and the Air Ambulance were also in attendance.

Fire crews have extricated two casualties from vehicles at this incident and one person has been transported to hospital via Air Ambulance. The M56 east bound has been completely closed while emergency services deal with this incident.

Five casualties are now in the care of ambulance crews and firefighers are currently making vehicles safe. The road continues to be closed at the present time but will open again once the roadway is cleared. Cheshire Police were also in attendance.
