Two fire engines attended, one from Warrington and one from Penketh

Firefighters were called to reports of a forklift truck leaking a chemical at the back of a commercial unit in Sankey Street, Warrington.

On arrival the crews discovered that the leak was caused by the truck having tipping over.

A cordon was placed around the leak, which involved battery acid.

A firefighter wearing breathing apparatus used a hose reel jet to apply small quantities of water to dilute the battery acid.

The driver of the truck is not believed to have been injured.

The scene was made safe.
