Small fire involving a bin lorry in Poynton

Two fire engines attended, one from Poynton and one from Stockport in Greater Manchester


Shortly before 1pm firefighters were informed of fire involving a bin lorry in Dickens Lane, Poynton.

The fire was out on arrival.

It involved a small amount of rubbish.

Firefighters used a hose reel jet to damp down the rubbish and lower the temperature of the affected area.

The temperature was monitored with a thermal imaging camera.

Firefighters also isolated the bin lorry's batteries.

They left the scene once they were satisfied that the bin lorry was safe.

Firefighters were in attendance for around 50 minutes.
