Smoke coming from a vehicle following a collision in Widnes

Shortly before 5.30pm firefighters were informed of a collision at the junction of Victoria Road and Ashley Road in Widnes.

On arrival no-one was in either of the two vehicles involved in the collision.

A small amount of smoke was coming from one of the vehicles.

A fire engine was positioned to fend off traffic before firefighters gained access to the smoking vehicle's engine.

A firefighter used a hose reel jet to cool down the engine and make the vehicle safe.

A thermal imaging camera was used to monitor its temperature.

Firefighters also made the other vehicle involved in the collision safe.

No-one is believed to have been injured as a result of the collision.

No-one was taken to hospital.

Firefighters were in attendance for more than half-an-hour.
