Smoke coming from a vehicle on the M6

At 4.30pm firefighters received a report of smoke coming from a vehicle on the M6 southbound, between junctions 17 and 16.
On arrival the crew found the vehicle stationary in the first lane of the Junction 16 slip road.
A second vehicle that had broken down was stationary behind it.
Firefighters fended off the vehicles until Highways England arrived.
They also made sure that the vehicles were safe.
Firefighters were in attendance for more than an hour and 15 minutes.
The smoke is believed to have been caused by an engine fault.Return to latest incidents
