Details
Firefighters were called to reports of a fire involving a train at Wilmslow railway station. The fire involved an overheated axle box near to the wheels of a train. Crews used dry powder and a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire, then cooled the box using the hose reel jet and monitored for hotspots using a thermal imaging camera.

All passengers had been removed from the train, however it was necessary to put a temporary stop on the rail line in order for firefighters to safely access and deal with the incident before it was handed over to Network Rail.
