On-call firefighters wanted for a new fire station in Alsager
Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service is looking for enthusiastic and willing people to work as on-call firefighters at a brand new station in Alsager, due to open in 2015.
The Service will be holding two special recruitment events in Alsager town centre this September. These will provide the perfect opportunity for people to discover more about the role and have a go at the physical tests that would be firefighters need to pass.

Two recruitment events will take place on the car park behind the Co-op in Alsager town centre.

It would be helpful if anyone planning on attending can call Sarah on 01606 868451 or email sarah.dornford-may@cheshirefire.gov.uk to register. It is, however, also possible to just turn up on one of the days.
What happens at the the recruitment event ?
These special events will give people the opportunity to learn more about the role, expected hours of training and duty, what it entails and how to move effectively through the process of becoming an on-call firefighter.
Visitors will be able to talk to serving firefighters, members of the operational training group and other fire and rescue staff.
Anyone attending is advised to wear appropriate clothing and footwear for the physical exercises. Fire kit will be provided to wear over their own clothes.
Attendance of at least an hour and a half should be allowed during the published times to get the best out of the experience and to gain a greater understanding of the recruitment process.
About on-call firefighters
On-call firefighters come from all walks of life, including shopkeepers, stay at home mums, builders, plumbers, farmers, secretaries, company directors and people who may not currently be employed, and work alongside their wholetime (full-time) colleagues.
