Alsager fire station is looking for new cadet recruits
Firefighters are calling on the young people of Alsager to take on a new and exciting challenge.
Have you got what it takes to become a firefighter cadet? Do you want to challenge yourself and learn new skills as part of a team? Alsager Fire Station is giving young people between 12 and 17 an amazing opportunity to become a part of our community fire station.
Howard Coppenhall, Alsager cadet unit coordinator said: “Alsager Fire Station hosts an active cadet group for young people aged 12-17 which is extremely popular. Now that some of our cadets, who we have seen grow into confident, young adults, are ready for new adventures, we are opening up the opportunity for you to gain new skills and knowledge that will help you stay one step ahead of the rest.”
You’ll have the opportunity to learn the basic skills of a firefighter while participating in a wide range of activities in and around your community fire station. You’ll also have the opportunity to gain recognised qualifications and awards including the Duke of Edinburgh awards.
Howard added: “Fire cadet units provide a valuable insight into being a firefighter. As a fire cadet you will be treated as a young firefighter and provided with your own uniform free of charge. You will be expected to attend a weekly drill night at your local fire station where you will learn many of the skills of a firefighter and work towards a number of awards while having fun and making new friends.
“You will be expected to show a certain amount of discipline and commitment, just like a firefighter, and in return, you get the support and encouragement to achieve great things and be part of a team we are extremely proud of.”
The group meets on a Tuesday evening between 6:30pm and 8:30pm. If you’re interested in joining us, contact Howard via firstname.lastname@example.org .
