Macclesfield Fire Station boosted by new on-call firefighter
A new recruit has joined Macclesfield Fire Station as an on-call firefighter after successfully completing his training.
Sean Coles’ hard work culminated in a passing-out parade at The Park Royal hotel in Warrington recently.
The event was attended by Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service’s Chief Fire Officer Mark Cashin, Deputy Chair of Cheshire Fire Authority Cllr Stef Nelson and the High Sheriff of Cheshire Alexis Redmond.
Following the ceremony, Gus O’Rouke, Assistant Chief Officer, said: “I would like to congratulate Sean for completing his training and to welcome them to Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service.
“Working with the fire and rescue service is a thoroughly rewarding experience. It gives individuals the opportunity to work with people from different backgrounds and meet people in the community, as well as to respond to emergency incidents within Cheshire.
“Sean has now been posted as an on-call firefighter at Macclesfield Fire Station where he will be responding to emergencies within his own community.”
Macclesfield resident Sean works in a duel role for Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service, Alongside his on-call firefighter role, he’s also been training as an Apprentice Firefighter for nearly two years and has less than three months training remaining.
In his spare time the 27-year-old married father of three enjoys Jiu-Jitsu and loves to spend as much time as possible with his family.
Sean said: “Becoming an on-call firefighter is such a rewarding role that allows you to work with some remarkable people and help those in need.
“It allows you to challenge yourself and learn new skills to deal with incidents such as trauma care, working from height, road traffic collisions, hazardous materials, fighting
fires and much more.
“I’d encourage anyone else who’s looking for a job which pushes you, makes you want to achieve more and help those around you to consider becoming an on-call firefighter.”
