A road traffic collision involving two vehicles was attended by firefighters. There was nobody trapped but due spilt liquid the carriageway was closed in both directions for the clean-up operation.
UPDATE at 15:05 - Crews gave first aid to one casualty at the scene. They also used absorbent matting and specialist equipment to ensure the liquid, which is believed to be cooking oil, didn't enter nearby drains. Police also attended to deal with the road closure.
UPDATE: 16:00 - The road is still closed while the clean-up is in progress. Drivers are being asked to avoid the area if possible.
UPDATE 16:40 - The incident is shortly being handed to Highways Agency to complete the clean-up operation.
