Cheshire Fire & Rescue Service Operational Policy & Assurance Department
37 hours per week
Starting Salary of £25,583 within the Salary Scale 3 range £25,583- £25,989 per annum based on experience

An opportunity has arisen for a Fire Training Ground Technician to join the Operational and Policy Assurance Department within Cheshire Fire & Rescue Service to work in a world class Training Centre and help to plan and deliver training to Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service Operational Staff and its partners.
The Fire Ground Training Technician will be responsible for working closely with Service Managers and Instructors in the planning, setting up and clearing away of training facilities and resources as well as maintaining items of training equipment. On occasions, the successful person will be required to undertake role-playing and to act as a safety person during training events. They will also be required to use Fire Service equipment, for which training will be given.
The successful candidate will be required to work within a dedicated team. The role requires good technical and practicable ability, the ability to prioritise tasks and good communication skills. There is a requirement to attend various training courses to maintain skill levels and qualifications.
Essential requirements of the role include:
Hold 3 GCSEs, or equivalent, which must include Maths and English
Hold Driving licence category B
Hold LGV Licence category C or be willing to undertake a course to achieve this
Be proficient in computer skills
Have experience of working with tools and machinery
Have experience of undertaking risk assessments
Have experience of working effectively with other agencies
Be highly motivated and capable of working on own initiative
Have good communication and organisational skills
Desirable attributes:
Qualified Forklift Truck Operator – Training will be completed in role if required.
Have a working knowledge and experience of working within a Fire and Rescue Environment
Some experience of working in a training environment
