Developing our 2028-2032 Community Risk Management Plan

The 2027/2028 financial year is the final year of Cheshire Fire Authority’s 2024-2028 Community Risk Management Plan (CRMP). The CRMP is a four-year strategy that sets out how Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service will improve effectiveness, address key fire and emergency risks, and keep communities safe. It focuses on increasing prevention and protection activity while delivering a more effective emergency response across the county.

Next year the Authority will begin developing its next CRMP, which will cover the four years from 2028 to 2032.

Ahead of this, the Authority is undertaking work to better understand:

  • The current risks across Cheshire

  • Public perception of key fire and rescue risks

  • Where the public and stakeholders believe we should prioritise our activity

  • What the public and stakeholders expect from their fire and rescue service

This work will help to inform the development of the draft CRMP for 2028 to 2032. Once formalised, the draft plan will be subject to wider public consultation, which is expected to take place in Autumn 2027.

Why we consult

We have a duty to talk and listen to members of the public, our staff and our partners to make sure we meet the needs of the communities we serve.

From consulting widely on our annual plan to asking residents and businesses for views on our community fire prevention work, we recognise we can only be truly effective if we fully understand what people expect and think of us - and if we involve them in shaping the way we work.

Current consultations

We are not running any consultations at this time.

Past consultations

We consult on a range of issues, which are listed below.

We consult on the following:

  • Integrated Risk Management Plans (IRMPs) - these are our annual action plans that set out our priorities and activities for the year ahead.

  • Strategic consultations - we periodically consult on our overarching strategies, which inform our annual plans.

  • Public Satisfaction Surveys - we conduct public satisfaction surveys every two years to determine what the public think about us and the services we provide.

  • Customer Satisfaction Surveys - we ask people for feedback when we undertake work in the community such as Safe and Well visits in people’s homes or providing safety advice to businesses. We also ask for feedback after attending certain emergency calls.
