The opening ceremony

The early Years Centre in BungThis morning began with us carrying out some final preparation for the school opening. We made a start on the mural Adam designed and varnished benches that would go into the classrooms.

At midday the centre opening ceremony began and it felt like the whole village was there (hundreds of people). It was clear to myself and the rest of the team how important this school is to the community. I felt great pride that our efforts with our fundraising had benefitted the area.

We were presented with gifts of appreciation from the village and we provided a speech at the ceremony on behalf of Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service. Dave cut the ribbon and pulled the curtain for the plaque on the classroom and Sean Coles lead a dance.

All the happy faces and appreciation made it absolutely clear that our work had been worthwhile.”
