Details
Two cows had found their way into the river and were unable to get out due to steep banks. The cows were some 300 metres apart so the incident was sectorised to enable them both to be successfully rescued. An inflatable walkway was set up and firefighters waded through the water to reach the first cow. They guided the animal to the bank and used a glide sheet to bring her up the steep slope.
Firefighters in dry suits were deployed with a raft to reach the second cow and were able to guide her out of the water and up the bank with the aid of a telehandler.
Both cows are currently doing well following their ordeal.
